Ralotsia hands over Unitrans house

27 Dec 2018

Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr Patrick Ralotsia recently handed over a two-bedroomed house to Ms Orapeleng Montwedi of Ranaka.

The house was donated by Unitrans Company.

The minister said the company presented a valuable Christmas gift to the Montwedi family.

He said he was behind private companies that assisted government in supporting and caring for the less privileged members of society, saying it was a sign of compassion and caring.

The minister also thanked Ngwaketse Land Board for availing a plot within a short period of time.

He also commended the man who constructed the house for being faithful and committed, as he did not abandon the project like some local contractors. He requested Ms Montwedi to take care of the house.

The managing director of Unitrans, Mr Brian Swift said the project started on October 22, 2018 and entailed building a two bedroomed house with a small kitchen fitted with a gas stove and a bathroom.

They also fenced the yard and connected electricity and water.

He said Unitrans staff, through their social club Bajammogo, bought a wheelchair for Thapelo, groceries, bedding and toiletry.

Mr Swift thanked Water Utilities Corporation and Botswana Power Corporation for connecting services to the house although they were engaged at the eleventh hour.

The beneficiary thanked God and Unitrans for the blessing, shedding tears of joy in the process.

She pleaded with parents not to hide their disabled children, saying they too have rights as human beings. ENDS
