Senwelo for Africa Youth Awards

21 Dec 2018

Mr Moemedi Senwelo, 26, will battle it out with 11 other young entrepreneurs in the Youth Awards under the Africa Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Voting for Mr Senwelo is through the African Youth Awards website: www.africayouthawards.org/vote-moemedisenwelo. Voting will end on 26 December ahead of the winners’ annoucement on January 1, 2019.

Mr Senwelo, who hails from Mochudi, is founder of CrackIt Tuition, a company offering tutorial services to primary, junior and senior secondary school pupils.

The centre, which has been running since November last year, has 16 branches across the country of which nine are franchises.

Opening up tutorial centres was driven by the poor examination results which were being produced every year, and Mr Senwelo wanted to play a role in helping curb the challenge.

He said in an interview that he has founded Freedom Books, which became the first company to publish BGCSE revision books series for mathematics, chemistry, biology and physics which he authored.

In 2017, he got recognition for his positive impact in Botswana’s education system and was awarded the Best Youth in Academic Excellence award during the Botswana Youth Awards.

Mr Senwelo has also penned and published another book titled Becoming an entrepreneur, which is meant to inspire people who wish to start their businesses with ideas and expertise. The books sells for P100.

The Africa Youth Awards, the continent’s most coveted award for young people, recognises the works of young Africans and introduces them to the world.

About a 100 young achievers from 26 African countries have been announced by Africa Youth Awards as part of the 2018 list of 100 Most Influential Young Africans. ENDS
