Tutume hospital has washing machine problem

Minister of Health and Wellness says he is aware that the Tutume Primary Hospital’s washing machines are not functioning.

Answering a question in Parliament, Dr Alfred Madigele said efforts had been made to repair the machines, but breakdowns of the machines had been recurring because they had suppassed their lifespan.

He said they would continue with their maintenance efforts so as to remedy the situation.

Dr Madigele said as a long term measure, his ministry had prepared a tender for supply, installation and maintenance of new laundry equipment for all clinics with maternity and primary hospitals across the country and the tender would be floating during the second week of this month.

Member of Parliament for Nkange Mr Edwin Batshu had asked the minister if he was aware that all the washing machines at Tutume Primary Hospital had not been functioning for a long time.

He also asked the minister to state how and when he intended to rectify the situation. Ends
