04 Dec 2018

Vice chairperson of First Capital Bank (FCB) Mr Raj Patel says his bank is privileged to have contributed to the economy of Botswana.

Speaking during the opening of the First Capital House in the Gaborone Central Business Botswana recently, Mr Patel said FCB was also privileged to have outperformed other players in the local banking industry over the past five years as it currently served over 18 000 customers.

He noted with pride that FCB, which started out small, but now has grown considerably, has helped to fund several businesses.

He attributed the growth of the bank to their continuous transformation of the way they think and organise themselves in order to meet customers ever changing needs.
In the meantime Mr Patel said not so long ago they were called Capital Bank, noting that the change of name to FCB may seem small, but it represented a far greater step in the evolution of their bank.

He said their operations under the FMB Capital Holdings group was now represented by a single and cohesive brand in Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Mr Patel noted with delight that as they opened their new head office, they were also making head way on their journey to becoming a leading and nimble regional banking group that could compete with the best global banking had to offer.

“Our new name also reflects this regional reach, which allows us to better serve our clients as they seek to do business in new markets.

For our clients in Botswana this means that their relationship with First Capital Bank also extends into the other markets we operate in,” he said.

Meanwhile, the bank made a donation of P100 000 to the Eyes for the World Angora International Project.

The project gives children in underprivileged areas access to eye tests and spectacles.

First Capital Bank first began operating in Botswana in 2008 as Capital Bank.

Over the past decade it has grown in leaps and bounds, employing 160 staff members todate. Ends
