Government has taken a decision to make a holistic review of the pay and conditions of service of the entire public service including Botswana Defence Force (BDF), Botswana Police Service (BPS) and the Department of Prisons and Rehabilitation. 

Responding to a question in Parliament, Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi stated that government still maintained the same position since November 7, last year when answering a question regarding shortage of accommodation in the disciplined forces.  

He said government would in the meantime continue to acquire houses from Botswana Housing Corporation and the private sector to augment housing in the disciplined services. 

Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister when his ministry would review the conditions of service for members of the BDF and BPS as promised in Parliament.  

Mr Nkaigwa has also asked the minister to explain what was being done to address shortage of accommodation as some soldiers were still accommodated in tents. ENDS
