Act empowers minister
04 Dec 2018
Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority Act (BERA) empowers the minister to remove a member from the office, if the member is convicted of an offence, and he or she was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of six months or more without an option of fine.
Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale told Parliament that one director had been suspended in pursuant of the BERA Act and therefore remains in the employ of BERA.
Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister why BERA still employed a director who had been implicated on allegations of corruption and if he could not be suspended pending investigations. ENDS
