Wellness activities boost productivity

Healthy living can help prevent certain ailments as well as eliminate some medical expenses and sick leaves, an official from the Office of the President, Mr Gobuamang Kgoreletso has said.

Speaking during the ministry’s wellness day in Moshupa on November 30, Mr Kgoreletso said wellness was a prerequisite for productivity because it could boost performance.

He said it was not only limited to one’s physical being, but included factors such as finances, mind as well as social and spiritual aspects.

He urged participants to make exercise their daily routine, with wellness days being used to complement their efforts because they come once in a while.  

Mr Kgoreletso noted that failure to take care of one’s health now could have dire consequences in the future. 

He hailed the idea of holding joint wellness activities by different departments, saying that such would help build relations between workers.

He encouraged them to eat traditional foods such as kabu to keep healthy, adding that traditional food were better than modern ones.

Giving objectives of the day, Mr Kagiso Molefe indicated that they found it fit to hold such an activity since it was in line with the ministry’s strategic plan.

He said they managed to bring back the activity after a while, adding that these kinds of activities were important as they act as a breather from the daily routine of meetings and work activities and we are hopeful that it will go a long way in boosting our productivity,’’ he said.

The event, which was held under the theme: My health, My Responsibility included activities such as aerobics, ball sports, races and traditional. ENDS
