First Capital Bank Botswana impresses Masisi

02 Dec 2018

First Capital Bank Botswana has earned accolades from President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi for its youth and women empowerment as well as its corporate social responsibility programmes.

Officially opening First Capital House in Gaborone recently, President Masisi expressed happiness that the bank had a graduate training programme which he described as critical in addressing graduate job readiness and competencies required to transition into the workplace.

He noted that 41 per cent of the bank’s staff complement of 160 were youth aged between 18 and 30.

On women, President Masisi said it was noteworthy that the bank had a gender strength of 71 per cent female employees.

He also applauded the bank’s commitment to uplifting the lives of communities they operated in, noting that it recently donated school uniforms to more than 60 pupils of Bogogobo Primary School in line with the Adopt-A-School Programme.

On other matters, Dr Masisi commended the bank for developing its digital banking infrastructure and safety measures to accommodate technological changes, adding that it had enhanced its Internet banking system to make it more secure and to enable more functionality for customers.

He pointed out that digital financial technology and the heightened update and utilisation of mobile phones had facilitated expansion of access to financial services by reaching greater numbers of people and small businesses.

Dr Masisi said cellular network providers were, therefore, key stakeholders in driving access to online banking solutions.

President Masisi said the reduction of mobile tariffs as per the High Court ruling in May this year was an opportunity for local consumers to conveniently access varied online services, including mobile banking.

He encouraged and applauded their contribution in the development of digital ecosystems in order to avail greater access to the Botswana consumer as well as opening opportunities for Batswana to trade locally and beyond borders with more ease.

The bank has four branches, three in Gaborone and one in Francistown.END
