Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says the South East District Council does not consider outsourcing the services and operation of incinerators at the landfill. Ms Tshireletso said there were two incinerators at the district council landfill and that both were in good condition.

She said the old one was part of the project during the construction and commissioning of the sanitary landfill in 2005, and that a new incinerator was installed and commissioned in October 2017 to complement the old one, adding that the council was able to operate and maintain the two incinerators.

Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had wanted to know if her ministry would consider outsourcing the services and operation of the incinerators at the landfill as the district council could not cope with the maintenance of the facility. ENDS
