Sankoyo Police share spoils

Onkagetse Mojwaine’s second half strike earned Sankoyo Bush Bucks a 1-1 draw with Police XI in a BTC Premiership match played at the Maun Stadium on Tuesday.

Betsho Pius handed the Jungle Kings a first half lead from a cross from Mpho Kgomo in an entertaining match. Although, the hosts made a better start and threatened Police XI goal keeper, Moeba Bokamoso managed to prevent many goals directed to him.

 Ngurungu’s efforts were thwarted in the 31st minute of the first half as their opponents took the lead through Pius. 

In the second half, the home side attacked from the start and were duly awarded in the 63rd minute.

Both sides went all out on attacks with Ngurungu having the upper hand throughout the entire game.  

Both sides could not add to their tallies until the final whistle and went away with a point each. 

Police XI head coach, Mike Sithole expressed frustration, saying though the game was a marvel to watch, it was disturbed by poor refereeing.

Despite the draw, he said his team was still among the top eight teams on the log standing.

Currently, it is at position six with 19 points.

Sankoyo head coach, Gadimang Tiiso, who could not hide his disappointment, said his charges were denied a penatly after  a Police defender tackled Gaongalelwe Dipateletso from behind in the dying minutes of the game.

He also said the players were did not mark on the wings in the first half and that allowed Police XI players to attack them easily. 

Tiiso promised that they would go back to the drawing board to plan and prepare for their game against the Lobatse-based giant, Extension Gunners.

Ngurungu is currently sitting at the bottom of the log with seven points from 12 games. ENDS
