Maintenance tender awarded in 2014

Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo says the tender for cyclic maintenance of Tutume Brigade was awarded in April 2014 by then Ministry of Education and Skills Development. Minister Mabeo said the contractor was reported to have abandoned the project on 4 April 2015.

He explained that during a meeting held on 19 November 2018 between the Ministry of Basic Education (MOBE) and Ministry of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, MOBE alluded to the fact that the process of termination of the contract was at 90 per cent.

He said MOBE promised to have the contract terminated by December 3 and assist in maintenance of the institution to prepare for the 2019 enrolment. Member of Parliament for Nkange, Mr Edwin Batshu had asked the minister when his ministry intended starting the long overdue cyclic maintenance at Tutume Brigade considering that some facilities at the centre had been without electricity for many years thus impacting negatively on learning.ENDS
