First Lady gives Christmas goodies

27 Nov 2018

First Lady Ms Neo Masisi has donated goodies to Rankoromane pupils during a Christmas party held at the school.

Rankoromane is a school operating under Camphill Community Trust in Otse and offers residential care and primary school education to children with learning difficulties from ages of five to 14.

Speaking at the event, Ms Masisi said the party was meant to show the children that they belonged to the community, and that there were people who were eager to show them love.

She appreciated the support she recieved from the spouses of heads of diplomatic missions in the country who also graced the event. She encouraged the children to aim high in their future endeavours.

She said if the learners did well in their studies, the country would benefit as they were the future leaders, adding ‘next year aim higher and get better grades, set 2019 targets now.’

Kgosi Mosadi Seboko of Balete said there was still need to offer learners with disabilities support, adding that Balete needed to be commended for the support they had given to people living with disabilities by housing Camphill Community Trust in their freehold farm.

“I want to thank Balete for doing well for Botswana,” she said, adding that Camphill Community Trust enrolled learners from all around the country.

Kgosi Mosadi said the school has helped to impart knowledge on various communities through empowering learners.

She said some were referred from mainstream schools as slow learners.

The Balete paramount chief further stressed the need to bridge the gap between mainstream society and people living with disabilities, saying it would ensure that people living with disabilities enjoyed the same rights and privileges.

Camphill Trust board chairperson, Ms Julia Matale appreciated the First Lady and the association of the spouses of heads of diplomatic missions for their gesture and having time to celebrate with Rankoromane learners. ENDS
