27 Nov 2018
The beauty industry is rapidly developing as many women like being all dolled up, gorgeous, comfortable and better looking.
Molepolole resident, Ms Nandi Usher,24, took advantage of the surge to venture into the beauty business after completing her certificate in Business Management.
She said before she started her business, she worked part-time as a retail assistant at a shop that offered services such as body massage and facials
Ms Usher however said her life changed for the better when working at a spa in Phakalane as a make-up artist. She was sent to Johannesburg where she was trained on body massage and treatment, facials and matching the make-up with the right skin type.
She revealed that in December 2016, she started her own business with her savings and stopped being an employee, adding that she started by offering nail services at her house.
She highlighted that Nandi’s Beauty Creations, which specialises in therapeutic treatments for feet and hands, facials, body massages and wig construction, was doing well.
Ms Usher said her business was mobile and she strived to make her clients feel valued and cherished at all times.
She said as she has acquired more knowledge related to her business and has also worked with successful people in the industry, she believes that she would thrive and reach her goals.
She has signed a contract with a local cosmetics company for supplies, and she acquires some from South Africa.
Ms Usher said her challenge was not having a permanent shop to operate from due to high rentals, revealing that she hoped to one day have her own nail care brand and make-up line.
Her business has employed one part-time assistant who only comes when there are more clients, especially when there are occasions such as weddings.
She encouraged other youth to believe in God and themselves and work hard to succeed. ENDS
