Sua Flamingoes Eleven Angels game ends in stalemate

25 Nov 2018

Despite countless counter attacks on each other, Sua Flamingoes and Eleven Angels failed to find the back of the net in a game staged at the Francistown Old Stadium on Saturday. The two ended in a 0 all draw.

The newly promoted Eleven Angels held their own against the seasoned Sowa Town-based side loaded with highly rated players.

Angels had been a marvel to watch in their maiden First Division North appearance.

They came into the Saturday encounter comfortably pegged at position five with eight points behind Green Lovers and having played five games, winning two, drawing two and losing one.

Their weekend encounter raised their draws to three. Sua on the other hand sat comfortably at position three with 10 points on log standings behind Morupule Wanderers.

Though the host came in as the underdogs, they showed their opponent that they were there to compete. Angels squad of mostly young players under 20 were a marvel to watch as they defended well and coordinated accurately on attack.

The visitors had a lot of experienced talent in the likes of Shanganani Ngada, Patrick Lenyeletse and Tendai Nyamazawo.

Meanwhile, Ngada’s brilliantly curled set piece in the 28th minute was fisted away by goalkeeper, Rapelang Bayani.

Flama Boys as Sua Flamingoes is popularly known were wasteful with many of their corner kicks, and they had many of them in the first half. Tlhompho Marman’s thunderous shot in the 41st minute nearly sent Angels hordes of supporters into celebration but hit the cross bar.

Another goal attempt for the host by Mompati Mbidzo at the dying minutes of the first half was parried to safety by Flamingoes goalkeeper, Edwin Mokibe.

In the second half, the visitors were the better side with a handful of impressive shots at goals but failed to score. Nyamazawo’s numerous attacks were often thwarted by Eleven Angels’ defenders in the likes of Thuso Monyama and Ofentse Ntesang.

In the 54th minutes, Flamingoes pulled out their super striker, Batisani Josiah for Joseph Nkgoeng and Thato Ganetsang came in for Thabiso Bante.

On the other hand, the Francistown-based Angels substituted Bakang Mpatane for Felix Nyikabarande and Mooketsi Simon for Mpolokang Majaga. The substitution failed to save either of the two teams. ENDS
