RAC offices not catered for

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development is aware that the South East District Council offices, including Botswana Police Station were prone to flooding during the rainy season.
Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the ministry had sourced P6 million for the design and construction of 2.4km storm water drainage facilities from Choppies Store to Notwane River.
“This is expected to direct the flow of water from Ramotswa Police Station towards the border with earth drains on both sides of the road, including replacement of culverts on junctions. The tender for the project is currently floating and will close on December 11, 2018,” she said.
Ms Tshireletso explained that the construction of new Rural Development Centre (RAC) chamber and offices had not been catered for during National Development Plan 11 due to budgetary constraints.
She further explained that there was no storm water drainage master plan for Ramotswa and was not included in the NDP11/DDP8 due to budgetary constraints.
She said it would be considered with other competing needs during the mid-term review of NDP 11.
Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister if she was aware that the South East District Council offices and police station were prone to flooding during the rainy season.
He also asked when the new rural administration centre chamber and offices would be built, and when the storm water drainage master plan would be implemented. ENDS
