Prime Health Medical Centre Maun launches additional services

20 Nov 2018

Prime Health Centre Maun has launched additional services for its clientele in Maun to bridge the gap in provision of medical services.

In an interview at the stakeholder engagement activity recently, Prime Health Medical Centre Health Services manager Dr Mellus Tshube said they had realised that there was still shortage in health services provided by both private and public health in Maun, adding that Letsholathebe Hospital was responsible for the Maun communities and the entire district.

“The Maun Medical Centre launched a Spec Saver (eye care services), a gynecologist, X ray and ultra sound to bring services closer to the Maun people,” he said.

Dr Tshube said Prime Health had a cordial relationship with the government hospitals while the Medical Centre in Maun had been operating with two general practitioners, a laboratory as well as a pharmacy.

Dr Tshube said Prime Health Medical Centre also offered emergency services to everyone who might be experiencing a life threatening condition regardless of being on medical aid or not, something he said some people were not aware of.

He said the other service was of transporting patients on referrals outside Maun at a free costs to patients on medical aid, saying the mode of transport was determined by the patient’s condition.

Dr Tshube also said they plan to make the medical centre a 24 hour service next year which will give patients an overnight stay as well as availability of a minor theatre services (same day procedure).

People of Maun were given free disease screening at the two days stakeholder engagement and launch of additional services. ENDS
