Germany president visits

President of Germany Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier will undertake a two-day state visit to Botswana at the invitation of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi from November 21-22.
According to a statement from the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation, the two leaders will hold official talks, focusing on the state of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.
President Steinmeier will also visit the Construction Industry Trust Fund and engage with the SADC Secretariat.
He will be accompanied by a business delegation which will engage with the business community to explore trade and investment opportunities in Botswana.
Botswana and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1966. Over the years, the two countries have collaborated in various fields of development, such as education, environment, tourism, water, energy, trade and investment. Botswana established a resident diplomatic mission in Berlin in September 2013.
President Steinmeier will be accompanied by First lady Elke Büdenbender and senior government officials. The President and his entourage will depart Botswana on November 22. ENDS
