Education is an endless journey because people experience, in life, challenges that call for critical elucidation of such problems.
This was said by Assistant Minister of Education and also MP for Ngami, Mr Thato Kwerepe during a prize giving and graduation ceremony at Gumare Primary School recently.
Mr Kwerepe said prize giving ceremonies were paramount in developing quality future service providers who understood that excellence was obtained through hard work while graduation was a clear demonstration of success and a sign of an accomplished mission, hence worth celebrating.
“It is an embodiment that self-belief, self-confidence, courage and determination are cultivated in the minds of young learners,” he said.
Mr Kwerepe also acknowledged the prize winners of the day and hailed them for their sterling performance.
He said rewarding excellence enhanced motivation and fostered courage, which was key to quality education.
He thanked teachers and parents for their outmost support and explained that their hard work and ever flourishing desire to nurture talent was indeed noteworthy.
“Education is a vocation that requires the expertise and devotion of committed educators who are propelled by the strong vision of nurturing youths towards a glorious future,” he said.
In closing, Ms Metlha Qhamaya, the assistant deputy school head of Gumare Primary School said the prize giving ceremony was imperative for teachers as well as pupils, primarily because they would note how far they had come and what needed to be improved.
She lamented that in the whole of Gumare, her school had the largest number of pupils being 1 030.
“As much as each class has over 40 learners, teachers are doing their outmost best to ensure and retain quality education,” she said. ENDS
