UB Crystals walked over Jwaneng and Mochudi Centre Chiefs during the southern zone netball league games at Botswana Netball Association courts, on Saturday.

Crystals, which dominated possession in both the games, came hard on both Jwaneng and Chiefs- thrashing them 116-16 and 102-8, respectively. Even though his team won, Crystals’ coach, Abednico Chitelo, said to him it did not mean that their opponents were weak.

He said the fact that they also managed to score goals against his team, was a lesson to him and his team. He was impressed that, despite the challenges of transport that some of his team members were faced with, the whole team still continued to play exceptionally well. In the other match that was between Jungle Queens and Prisons, the former won by 38-24. 

Commenting on her team’s performance, Queens’s captain, Goitsemodimo Dikinya, said even though her team recovered in the second quarter of the game, it played well.

“After the substitutions of our goal attacker and goal defender in the second and last quarters of the game, respectively, we all got motivated and managed to pick up our game, as our team then managed to score more and more goals,” she said. Dikinya said her team’s defense also played to their full potential since they “were very tight at the back.

”Her team’s defensive pressure worked to her team’ advantage as it managed to defeat its opponent all the way to the last quarter. She added that what she liked most about her team was that they are a very strong team that never give up and worked as a united force applying all the techniques and advise they got from their coach. 

The other league matches that were played, on Saturday, were between Notwane vs Chiefs and between Notwane and Flying Hawks. Notwane walloped the two teams 78- 20 and 75-26, respectively.  

Of the six league matches that were scheduled to be played, on Saturday, only one game was not played, because Doves did not turn up. Doves was supposed to play against Queens. ENDS
