Centre for the Blind receives donation

16 Oct 2018

Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind has received a donation of P13 000 from Masika Trust Fund.

Masika Trust Fund board chairperson Mr Simisani Nfila said in Mochudi on Saturday that giving back to the community was one of their key objectives as their intention was to share the little they had with the centre.

He also said they would always assist the centre in order to show support and compassion to the children living there.

Secretary general for Masika Trust Fund Ms Molly Kgosietsile said the trust was founded by Ms Zipporah Ratau in 1979 and was registered in 2015.

She said the Trust was formed to teach people about financial literacy while it also helps the underprivileged in the community by providing them with basic needs.

Director for Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind Ms Tebogo Menyatso appreciated the gesture and said it would help them run daily errands of the centre.

She said the Centre’s relationship with Masika comes a long way as the Trust has adopted the centre and had been giving them donations.

Ms Menyatso said the centre was a non-governmental organisation and the funds from the government were not enough to assist at them.

She also said the centre empowered children who were enrolled to take care of themselves as they teach them being hygienic.

Furthermore, the children are taught to read and write using brail and are also taught music studies to entertain themselves and visitors who visit the centre.

She said it was everyone’s responsibility to love and care for the children and to put a smile on their faces.

Ms Menyatso thanked Masika Trust Fund and said their relationship had grown over the years as they have planted a seed by reaching out to the community.

“Every Thebe that is being donated will be accounted for,” said Ms Menyatso.

Giving a vote of thanks, the reigning queen of Miss Independence Kgatleng pageant Ms Oshebeng Makgaka appreciated the works of Masika Trust Fund for giving to the community.

She said giving back to the community showed love and compassion to those who have been underprivileged.

Ms Makgaka said Masika Trust Fund had sown a seed and it would germinate to bear fruits that would be harvested.

She said children who live at Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind should be shown love and appreciation to give them hope. ENDS
