Newly-established Clyde View Dental Clinic is going to help improve health services in Palapye, says Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Mr Moiseraele Goya.
Officially opening the facility at Lotsane Junction Mall on October 13, Mr Goya commended owner Dr Kago Moshoeshoe for the venture.
The clinic, he said, came at the right time when government was battling chronic illnesses particularly non-communicable diseases, some of which ended up affecting oral health.
He said patients who could afford private dental services could easily access them in Palapye without having to travel long distances to either Gaborone or Francistown.
Mr Goya said the new dental clinic would help address the problem of congestion at Palapye Primary Hospital which serviced a high number of people both from Palapye and surrounding villages. In addition, he said the hospital had challenges of dilapidated infrastructure and shortage of drugs as well as manpower.
He urged the Palapye community to support Dr Moshoeshoe and emphasised the importance of oral health.
“You need not see a doctor only when you are in pain, you should come for regular checkups,” he said.
Mr Goya, who is also MP for Palapye, said government was committed to delivering health services to the nation but needed private sector partnership to do so.He said opening a dental facility was a welcome development particularly that Batswana were being encouraged to contribute to growing the economy of this country and create employment for other citizens.
He encouraged the clinic staff to offer world class service to attract customers and reminded them that they were not the only players in the market hence they needed to up their game.
“Palapye is growing at a fast pace even though it has not been declared a town yet,” he noted.
He encouraged more businesses to set up in Palapye adding “we can not wait until Palapye is declared a town.”
For his part, Dr Moshoeshoe also encouraged Batswana to contribute to the development of the country by setting up their own businesses.
He informed the community of Palapye that he worked in government for six years before he started his own dental business.
Clyde View Dental Clinic will be offering services such as scale and polishing, teeth whitening, restorations and dentures.
For his part, area councilor Mr George Makhura thanked Dr Moshoeshoe for choosing to open business in Palapye.
He also urged the community to support Dr Moshoeshoe’s initiative. ENDS
