Scorching season back again

14 Oct 2018

Hot, sizzling days are back again, and reptiles, vegetation and human beings are not energetic because of the season.

I am not a major fan of winter because I find the season quite repressive.

You find yourself forced to wear layers of clothing, which just weighs you down, even getting to bed you find yourself under your own body weight in blankets.

If you try to go out for a drink or to host a little braai, the cold wind resolves to annoy you and even if you are brave enough to take on winter you will find yourself tapping out at that point where you lose sensation in your fingers, nose and ears. Seetebosigo ngwana! It is just not amusing.

We are all aware of the four seasons in a year, but some people think to overlook them, but seasons do change and we are well on our way to summer, which brings back my ‘spring.’

With the gloomy cold season of winter gone, everything is warmer and happier and the trees are blooming and there is an air of reprieve. Bees buzzing as you stroll around town, cities, villages and cattle post, there is indeed rebirth all around.

The ladies, who in winter were clad in long heavy coats, have traded those for light and more fashionable clothes with as much colourful as the rainbow and most importantly they are happy.

For some families it is time for cocktails. You can easily find men assembled at bars happily chatting about football and livestock nurturing.

Primary school pupils and day care centre toddlers are at liberty to go to school without complaining, playing happily under the trees, while birds and butterflies chant songs and flatter their wings.

In a wide ranging interview in Kanye recently, gentlemen and ladies who guzzle Chibuku shake shake are rapturous because the malt is better in summer than in winter.

Mr Shine Dinoge said he enjoyed and appreciated it during the summer season to keep away the thirst, clad in short khaki trousers and a light t-shirt plus sunglasses.

A young man, who likes Chibuku too much, Mr Thabang Lentswe said summer was a pleasant season despite the terrorising mosquitoes whistling close to your ears during the night.

Mr Momela Mohutsiwa said traditional brew and power liquor were good enough to drink during the day.

He called it a thirst-quencher. After drinking too much liquor, he said you needed meat, then dance and sleep.

When you invite others to explore and experiment with different flavours of  cocktails, remember to sip responsibly and have a glass of water between drinks to keep hydrated

Mr Cosmos Tselaesele indicated that summer was comfortable because they anticipated rains during the course of the season.

One Mr Tankuru Ramputswa said it was time for dating girlfriend and boyfriend regularly.

Only a few people complained about the season, saying it was time for festivities and marrying while criminals also travelled with ease, while motorists who travelled long distances were advised to start the journey early in the morning or evening.

Others, like Ms Mmapula Lentswe, prefer winter because they felt good in low temperatures.

Ms Lentswe stated that summer was hot and she could not cope with the scotching heat. ENDS
