Kitsong Centre makes life easier for Malaka

14 Oct 2018

The establishment of a Kitsong Centre at Malaka is expected to change the lives of the villagers.

The village leader, Kgosi Dikakanyo Otukile said since the centre was established last year, it has made life easier for the community.

He said prior to its establishment, Malaka and Lecheng residents had to travel to Palapye to access Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services.

Some of the services offered at the Kitsong Centre are copying and scanning, prepaid SIM replacement, airtime and SIM card sales, printing and faxing as well as My Zaka registration.

Kgosi Dikakanyo said the centre has all the services that used to be accessible only in Palapye.

He also appreciated that one youth has been recruited to operate the centre, saying it was a welcome development.

“Our centre has three computers, one printer and one laminating machine and we will ensure that all these are taken care of,” he said.

He called on the community to join hands with the police to fight crime, adding that if they let crime escalate, Mascom may shut down the centre.

He said the centre has no Internet service, and that if connected it would go a long way to improve the lives of both Malaka and Lecheng communities.

Kgosi Otukile said both teachers and pupils would also benefit from the centre once the Internet had been connected, adding that it would also help improve academic performance.

He called on other network providers to emulate Mascom by bringing their services closer to rural communities.

He also encouraged his community, especially the youth, to use the Kitsong Centre to improve their livelihoods. ENDS
