Moshaweng VDC appreciates developments
14 Oct 2018
Chairperson of Moshaweng Village Development Committee (VDC), Mr Kagiso Bafitlhile says his village is grateful for the developments coming their way.
In an interview, Mr Bafitlhile said although such developments were often slow to be completed, they appreciated the fact that they would be completed to meet the needs of the village.
He said through the constituency funding initiative, they have added two classrooms at the local primary school as well as one teachers’ quarters as a way of addressing the needs of the school.
He said the construction of a classroom for pre-school pupils and an LA1 house were at completion stage.
He said other developments that they appreciated include two culverts across the river that divides the village in two. He said the culverts would enable pupils from the other side to easily access school even during the rainy season.
Despite the low quota of Ipelegeng participants, Mr Bafitlhile said villagers applauded the programme as it assisted them to meet basic needs.
He said the main development that they had been calling for was the tarring of the Moshaweng-Letlhakeng road as they got most of their services from Letlhakeng.
Mr Bafitlhile said Tirelo Setshaba has also helped in keeping the youth occupied, and pleaded for the age limit of participants to be increased from 30 to 35.
He expressed displeasure at parents who did not encourage their children to go back to school when they quit, saying it was common in the village resulting in young people ending up indulging in alcohol and sexual immorality.
Mr Bafitlhile applauded civil servants in the village for their cordial relations with the village leadership and the comunity, saying such partnership contributed positively to the development of the village.
He, however, said what still needed to be addressed was reluctance by the community to attend kgotla meetings, and urged them to improve. ENDS
