Liberty celebrates decade of growth

14 Oct 2018

Liberty Life Botswana managing director, Ms Lulu Rasebotsa, says the company has managed to grow its clientele over the last 10 years because of putting customer interests at heart.

Liberty Life Botswana, which is a subsidiary of South African company Liberty Holdings, celebrated its 10th anniversary of operation in Botswana recently.

Speaking at the event in Gaborone, Ms Rasebotsa explained that they only had one client and offered Bancassurance products when they started operations in 2008.

“Now, I’m pleased to let you know that we have over 165 corporate clients and offer a broader range of products.  Our product range has diversified to now include a retail offering with flagship products such as our Platinum Life Cover, Critical Illness, and of late our Living Annuity, just to mention a few,” she said.

The managing director said the company was proud of its achievements and was looking forward to the future with “pride, excitement and anticipation”.

“We owe our existence in Botswana to the people of Botswana, that is our customers from all walks of life, and our partners and stakeholders as a whole, believing in our purpose as an organisation and helping us move forward in the pursuit of this vision,” she added.

South Africa deputy high commissioner, Ms Bulelwa Kiva, commended Liberty Life Botswana for having demonstrated the traits of an exemplary corporate citizen, existing to serve the people, creating products that offered clients financial freedom and peace of mind during unforeseen circumstances.

“Allow me to applaud you for putting your customers first, listening and understanding their needs and using those insights to enable you to create solutions that are customer focused and cater for Batswana. This is the fabric of success that will hold your organisation together with unbreakable strength as you evolve over time,” she said.

She said she was impressed that as at 2017, Liberty Life Botswana was in the top five life insurers in Botswana in terms of Gross Written Premiums.

She explained that South Africa and Botswana have a long history of nurturing socio-economic growth vehicles based on the cordial relations the two countries over the last 24 years. ENDS
