Tshesebe Post Office opens

Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Kitso Mokaila has officially opened the new state of the art Tshesebe Post Office.
Minister Mokaila also launched the new stamps tagged Kgalagadi biodiversity and the money transfer service called Poso Money during the 2018 World Post Day commemoration in Tshesebe on Tuesday.
Giving a keynote address, Mr Mokaila stated that the new post office would not benefit only the people of Tshesebe, but those in the neighbouring villages from Tsamaya, Jackalas 2, Mabudzane, Siviya, Senyawe, Butale, Mowana and Themashanga.
He highlighted that the old post office was in the outskirts of the village, hence it was difficult and unsafe to access it due to its location.
Mr Mokaila said the new post office was within reach being located in the ‘heart of the village’ near other government offices.
He stated that the post office would offer improved services because of world class equipment and increase in the human resource.
“This is the new Poso model that we want to roll out to the rest of Botswana, which offers improved services at a quicker rate in a world class environment.
Therefore count yourselves lucky to be one of the first to have it.”
The minister further said that it was an honour for Tshesebe people to witness the launch of the Kgalagadi biodiversity stamp because it would challenge them to appreciate Botswana more and visit the Kgalagadi.
Mr Mokaila said a stamp portrays the beauty of a country in that it traverses the globe when people send post mail.
He stated that some people collect stamps as souvenirs and may sell them in future because they gain value with time.
He highlighted that the new stamp series depicted hills, sand dunes, the pans and diverse animal species in the Kagalagadi.
Regarding Poso Money, Mr Mokaila stated that the mandate of Botswana Post was to reach every person even in the most rural locations, hence Poso Money would ensure that anyone with a mobile phone could receive money through this service.
He highlighted that the service was available on every mobile network across the country, adding that with Botswana Post footprint widespread, Batswana would receive money the easier and quicker way.
The minister further stated that through the service, people would be able to pay their utility bills at the comfort of their homes without having to queue at the post offices.
BOCRA CEO, Mr Martin Mokgware stated that the day was commemorated in 192 countries that subscribe to the Universal Postal Union.
He stated that Botswana Post through post offices had been delivering services to Batswana for many years and people continue to enjoy the post services across the globe.
He said World War veterans, old age pensioners and ordinary Batswana enjoy the services offered by post offices, hence Botswana Post had introduced innovation and integration to improve their services.
He reiterated that the people of Tshesebe and surrounding villages would benefit from the new post office as they access improved services from sending and receiving money and parcels as well as paying utilities, among others.
Kgosi Motlotlegi Kachana of Tshesebe thanked Botswana Post for building this world class post office in Tshesebe.
He highlighted that post offices had been offering services to Batswana from way back, subsequently becoming part of Batswana’s lives.
He said post offices had evolved with time as they have incorporated technology to make doing business easier and quicker.
Kgosi Kachana called on residents of Tshesebe and surrounding areas to take care of the facility and utilise it for their benefit.
In closing, MP for Tati East Mr Samson Guma thanked government for launching all the milestones in Tshesebe, noting that such was a great honour for the people of Tshesebe.
He further called on residents to take care of the post office. Ends
