Molopo Junior School Rewards Students

08 Oct 2018

Molopo Junior Secondary School students should develop a good attitude towards education in order to achieve quality results.

These were the words of Advocate Keresepe Sekwenyane, Managing Partner of Sekwenyane Legal Practice and a former student of the school, when giving a keynote address during a joint prize giving and adoption ceremony recently.

He said there were some people who would degrade them along the way, but this should not demotivate and derail them to succeed in their goals.

Advising them to be the best version of themselves, Advocate Sekwenyane said every student had skill, talent and potential that should be harnessed for future.

He said a student may be intelligent, but a bad attitude towards education would deter that person from performing well at school.

He admitted that indeed students come from different backgrounds, such as disadvantaged families, but that should not deter them from focusing on their education and dreaming of their desired career paths.

“You are lucky to have some role models to look up to, utilise that opportunity to reach greater heights,” he said.

Advocate Sekwenyane advised the students on time management, such as organising time for doing school work, entertainment and home chores, which he said is a prerequisite in learning.

Former Chief Executive officer of the Human Resource Development Council, Dr Patrick Molutsi said poverty starts in one’s mind, advising students to work hard in their studies for a better future.

He said they could be an example of excellence in the southern region and thus should stand up for their education, stressing that ‘Thuto ke Boswa’.

School Head, Ms Connie Kabasia said the school’s dream was to produce good results, adding that every student was important in attaining that.

She said as students are future leaders and that a bright future should be laid, which she said could only be achieved through collaboration of students, teachers and parents.

Ms Kabasia said the school had not been performing well, but last year there was a slight improvement.

She said they had vowed to improve the results with the support of other stakeholders such as the police and churches.

She also applauded the students for good behaviour as there had been no cases of unwanted behaviour in the school, which she said symbolised discipline and a step in the right direction.

The theme of the event was; The Role of Students in Achieving Quality Results. ENDs
