This year’s culmination of the month of prayer against HIV/AIDS was a special one for Gumare Primary Hospital as they received goodies from Gumare Central Seventh Day Adventist Church on Friday.
The church donated 20 blankets to the hospital as way of ending the month of prayer in style.
Member of Parliament for Ngami Mr Thato Kwerepe commended the church for the noble gesture, noting that it was a blessing to the hospital.
Mr Kwerepe said compassion by the church was a way of how Christians were expected to do things in society and encouraged the SDA Church to continue doing the good job for more blessings from God.
For her part, chief medical officer, Dr Bokwena Moali said they were looking forward to working with the community in various aspects such as villagers identifying children who had not received any form of vaccine and notifying the hospital.
She also said it was good to see the community coming forward to engage with the hospital with such a gesture. Meanwhile, Gumare hospital chief administration officer, Ms Keikanyemang Lekweni expressed concern over some patients who stole the donated blankets upon discharge from hospital.
She said the blankets donated were of high quality and that some patients were tempted to steal them.
Ms Lekweni pleaded with people to desist from stealing the blankets. Ends
