Masisi vows to obey law

President Mokgweetsi Masisi has promised to abide by the Constitution in leading the nation despite challenges.
President Masisi said this at an event organised by Kgosi Kgabosetso II Mosielele and Bakgatla Ba ga Mmanaana on Friday to honour him for representing them well while he was their Member of Parliament as well as wish him well in his role as the President.
“I will forever abide by my oath, even when challenges arise.
I want also to advice those who want to derail me from my plans of serving the nation that it will not be possible because I am fully committed to serve and put the interest of this country first,” he said.
His mission, he said was to take the country to greater heights following the foundation and footsteps of his predecessors.
He indicated that leading the country had its own challenges, adding however that it was humbling to be called by ‘your own to soothe your soul’.
Thus, he thanked Kgosi Kgabosetso II and Moshupa residents for their gesture, adding, “I understand that the gesticulation is not a tribal initiative, but simply a sign that I come from somewhere”.
For his part, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane said the nation was at an era when it needed a kind of leadership demonstrated by President Masisi.
Mr Tsogwane said through President Masisi’s able leadership, the leadership was recommitting to upholding the laws of the country, particularly the Constitution. Again, he said they [leaders] were also recommitting to consultation, saying such would allow them to return to the ‘original mode’.
“Returning to the original mode in ICT means computers are returned to a factory mode if there is malfunction.
You press the reset button and it allows the computer to return to the original mode where it can function as was intended to, and it will reboot,” he said.
He told President Masisi that starting and implementing principles in the manuals would avoid moral compromise and ethical missteps, adding that he would, in the process, protect himself from the negative effects of mistakes, while he freely exercised his talent, realised his potential and further gain practical wisdom for leadership. Kgosi Kgabosetso II also encouraged President Masisi to keep up the good work and thanked Frist Lady Neo Masisi for supporting the President. “You are always next to President Masisi. That alone is clear indication that you are supportive.” he said.
He said they had organised the ceremony to appreciate their own, as he had ascended the highest office in the country.
Meanwhile, the President was showered with gifts, among them 17 cattle, small stock and a diamond necklace for the first lady, which she was given by Boo-Manyana who are working in Orapa. ENDs
