Old Naledi win Ngele tourney

03 Oct 2018

Old Naledi were champions of the Tsotso Ngele annual charity Tournament after beating Super X1  1-0 in the final played at Thebe Primary School grounds in Gaborone on Monday.

First half goal scored by Bakang Mosala secured victory for Old Nalade.

Although Super XI seemed to be an organised team, Old Naledi denied them glory in front of the multitudes of supporters.

However, it was evident that Old Naledi came prepared since they edged out Extension 14 after winning 3-2 by penalties in the semi-finals.

Super XI beat the host White City 3-1 to play in the finals, however White City suffered a major setback during the game after their goal keeper Mooketsi Mogotsi sustained a career threatening injury that forced him to be rushed to Princess Marina Hospital.

The tournament organiser, Mogakolodi Ngele, said in an interview that  the objective of the charity tournament was mainly to give back to the community.

“As a football player, I find it important to give back to the people who made me what I am today, again my aim is to keep the youth busy and give them opportunity to be scouted by other teams,” he said.

Furthermore, Ngele encouraged the youth to always use their talent to earn a living, adding that academics only did not provide “bread on the table”.

The tournament was also graced by other senior players, coaches, managers, and athletes.

Noah Maposa, who attended the tournament, commended Ngele for the tournament saying it was an eye opener to other players.

He said keeping the youth busy around the holidays, could keep them away from drugs and substance abuse. ENDS
