Parents participation in children education key
27 Sep 2018
Parents have been implored to be partakers in their children’s studies because education needs joint efforts from both teachers and parents.
Officiating at Mmanaana Junior School prize giving ceremony recently, Mercy Hands charitable Foundation managing director, Mr Kabelo Rampe said education was a vital tool in today’s era of technology where everyone needs to be educated.
Mr Rampe urged students to portray a good character at all times because it can take them to places and envied by a lot people.
He said character was the gateway to success because it was the first thing to assess at contact and as such pleaded with students to introspect and positively build their characters.
He said because they are future leaders, awards given to best students are meant to motivate them to hold on to top positions and study harder to for better grades at the end.
He said sometimes some students exhibit naughty behaviour because of the hostile background they are raised in and pleaded with teachers give such students support they need and to be patient when dealing with such students.
Giving motivational speech, Student Representative Councill president, Prince Motshwarakgole, a Form Three student living with disability at Sedumedi Junior School in Molepolole said, “Every student is gifted, therefore like all able-body we fall as much as we can rise”.
Motshwarakgole said students have a tendency to give up quickly, saying only students of character were able to survive and live to discover new meaning of life.
He commended government for giving people living with disabilities an opportunity to learn and benefit from other government programmes an experience he said gives them a sense of belonging.
He noted that all people living with disabilities are capable, indicating that it is only a matter of choice and realising their purpose. ENDS
