Kwape encourages church to pray for President Masisi

26 Sep 2018

Dr Lemogang Kwape has encouraged the Head Mountain of God Apostolic Church in Zion to keep President Mokgweetsi Masisi in prayers.

Dr Kwape, who was the guest speaker, at the church’s unveiling of a combi and inauguration of vice Bishop Paul Mereti in Kanye said praying for President Masisi would inspire him to steer the nation to greater heights.

Dr Kwape had represented President Masisi, who could not attend the church ‘sponsored walk last year due to other pressing engagements.

The walk, however, resulted with the purchasing of a combi for the church.

He also encouraged the church to pray for peace and stability in the country.

He said Batswana were a special nation because of their character therefore should cherish and safeguard the values that had served the nation well thus far.

Dr Kwape also applauded the church for adopting a child whose late mother was also a member of the congregation for epitomising the love of Christ through the gesture.

Like speakers before him, he said the harvest was vast but harvesters were few.

Dr Kwape further commended the church, which would turn 80 years next year, for a smooth transfer of executive positions and advised members to read and internalise the Book of Habakkuk in the Bible, which he said could give them more leadership insights.

He furthermore thanked the church for giving women an opportunity to serve at different levels.

Dr Kwape promised to buy Arch Bishop Norman Muzonda a 100 per cent cotton suit, wrap it with love and ferry it to him.

He also pledged blankets to be donated to some members of the church branch in Sekoma.

For his part, Arch Bishop Muzonda warned new churches executives to lead by example and serve with utmost humility.

He said the appointment was not a promotion but an opportunity to serve. He said Jesus Christ called people to serve at different points in time but would reward them according to how much effort each of them had sown.

Archbishop Muzonda, however, encouraged the congregation to respect church elders and motivate them to serve with passion.

Without respect, he said the elders might get wounded in spirit.

He also challenged the church to use the combi to serve God’s purpose.

He also thanked Dr Kwape for his gesture and wished him the best of luck for his future endeavours.

Before he ordained him, Bishop Manyewa encouraged Mr Moreti to wear the garment of faith at all times.

He also warned him not to use his position for any purpose other than building the kingdom of God.

Accepting the task ahead of him, vice Bishop Moreti promised to visit, revive church structures and provide spiritual leadership in the region.

Mr Moreti, however, said he was aware of the expectations that naturally came with the new position like serving with humility, love and being faithful to his wife among others.

Meanwhile project coordinator, deacon Million Morris said his team had worked hard to purchase the vehicle.

He said they started with each member contributing P200 to raise money they used to buy items like t-shirts which they later re-sold to make more money and thanked his team for exhibiting a humble spirit of service. ENDS
