25 Sep 2018

An accident along A33 (Nata-Kasane) road has claimed the life of a 60-year-old woman from Selebi Phikwe.

In an interview with BOPA, acting station commander for Nata Police Station, Assistant Superintendent Phetogo Phillimon, said the accident occurred last Thursday when the driver lost control of the car.

He said the vehicle had three occupants, including the driver, adding that the deceased was the mother of the two siblings in the car.

In another incident at Manxotae, Assistant Superintendent Phillimon said they were holding a 26-year-old man of Maaloso ward in Manxotae in custody for causing bodily harm, which charge has since now changed to murder as the victim has died.

He said the incident happened on September 12, where the man was arrested for causing bodily harm on his 38-year-old lover, also of Manxotae, whom he allegedly hit with an axe.

He said the woman was rushed to Nata Clinic and was later referred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital where he was admitted in the intensive care unit.

Unfortunately, he said, the woman succumbed to her injuries on September 18.

Supt. Phillimon thus noted that the accused has already appeared before Nata Magistrate Court on a count of murder. ENDS
