Mochudi Centre Chiefs hunt for first victory

24 Sep 2018

Mochudi Centre Chiefs will be hunting for their first victory of the campaign when they visit 10th placed Prisons XI at the Otse Police Stadium this afternoon (September 25). The match will start at 4pm.

Magosi are enduring their worst start to a Premier League campaign in a long time after going their first five matches without victory. The four times premier league champions slumped to an unfamiliar position 15 on the log standings over the weekend after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Orapa United at Itekeng Stadium.

The weekend defeat to the Ostriches was Chiefs’ second on the trot after the equally struggling Gaborone United edged them 1-0 a fortnight ago. After five matches, Chiefs have managed to garner a meagre two points from draws against Extension Gunners and the newly promoted BR Highlanders.

Magosi’s big problem is an ineffective attack with new striker, Phenyo Molefhe finding it difficult to hit the back of the net. Molefhe has started all the five matches since joining from Police XI in the off-season but is yet to score.

Another problem haunting the Kgatleng giants is a porous defence.

The new look defence Onalenna Molelekwa, Mmoloki Masoko, Edwin Olerile and Trinity Nko has allowed nine goals in five matches and are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

After suffering a baptism of fire, with Jwaneng Galaxy humiliating them 5-0 on their return to the BTC Premiership, Prisons have shown an improvement in form in their last few matches.

They beat Sankoyo Bush Bucks 2-1 and held the high-riding Police XI to a 1-1 draw recently.

Therefore, the ‘Warders’ could pose a serious problem for Magosi this afternoon.

In another BTC Premiership, encounter this evening at 7pm, log leaders Jwaneng Galaxy will be aiming to continue their unbeaten streak when they clash with Notwane at

Molepolole Sports Complex.
Galaxy are in buoyant form after beating Black Forest 3-1 last weekend.

Notwane on one hand battled from two goals down to hold Sharps Shooting Stars to a draw.

Bottom side Sankoyo Bush Bucks will welcome Gaborone United at Maun Sports Complex at 5pm. Ngurungu will be looking to recover from their 4-1 thrashing at the hands of

Township Rollers and secure victory to move from the bottom of the log.

The matches will continue on Wednesday with Security Systems hosting Extension Gunners in Molepolole  while Sharps welcoming Miscellaneous at UB Stadium.

Black Forest welcome BDF XI in Lobatse while BR Highlanders and Orapa United clash at Serowe Sports Complex. All Wednesday matches will kick off at 7pm.

A titanic clash is on the cards between Michael ‘Dubula’ Sithole’s Police XI and Nicola Kavazovic’s two times defending champions Township Rollers at UB Stadium on Thursday at 7pm. Ends
