Joel Mogorosi scored a hat-trick as Township Rollers thrashed Sankoyo Bush Bucks 4-1 in an entertaining BTC Premiership encounter played at the National Stadium on September 22 night.

Mogorosi gave Rollers the lead with a low shot that beat Sankoyo goalkeeper Kabelo Kuti at the near post 14 minutes into the match. However, right winger Oabile Bathusi prodded home a cross from William Sithole to level matters for the visitors four minutes later.

Kuti pulled off a string of good saves from Kago Monyake, Tumisang Orebonye and Mogorosi to keep Ngurungu in the match. But he was powerless to stop Segolame Boy from restoring Mapalastina’s lead with a beautiful free-kick in the 63rd minute from the edge of the penalty area.

The Rollers technical bench brought on Kamogelo Matsabu for Monyake, and the South African quickly impressed supporters with his silky skills. He crashed a shot against the post after weaving his magic past two defenders inside the penalty area.

He was later brought down by Lucas Mothata in the 80th minute after tricking the defender inside the penalty area.
Mogorosi stepped up to increase the lead from the resultant penalty kick before completing his hat-trick with a fine header from a cross by substitute Boyo Lechaena in the final minute of regulation time.
 

The treble took ‘Juluka’ to the top of the scoring chart with five goals from four matches.

“I thank my teammates for the hard work they always bring on the pitch. They are always pushing me.

It is good to be scoring goals. But it is important for Rollers to win whether I score or I don’t score,” said the veteran attacker.

“But it is good to score as a striker. I want to score in each and every game if I have the chance. But whoever scores we are happy because it is important for Rollers to win matches so that we can win the league,” he added.

Victory moved Rollers to third position on the log standings with 10 points from four matches, while Sankoyo remained rooted to the bottom of the log with a single point from five matches. Ends
