23 Sep 2018
The Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) has refuted a September 17 Mmegi Monitor story headlined: Driver in DIS Operative Case Discharged’.
In a statement issued to all media house on September 21, DIS denied having in its employ one Galani Nnadzwa the newspaper identifies as DIS agent who was involved in a car accident.
It labels as false allegations that Nnadzwa was driving a directorate vehicle at the time of the accident, was intoxicated, swore under oath that agents were allowed to drive under the influence of alcohol when on duty and that he had turned state witness.
“We do not have Galani Nnadzwa in our employ, we have never had any relationship with anyone bearing such names, none of our vehicles was ever involved in any accident described in the said article,” the statement says.
DIS explains that statutes guiding its operations do not permit employees to report for duty under the influence of alcohol.
“Actually, we treat the behaviour as a serious transgression, attracting the harshest of penalties.” ENDS
