Masisi seeks partnerships

President Mokgweetsi Masisi arrived in Tallahassee, Florida on September 19 kick starting the first leg of his US ahead of the 73rd UN General Assembly.
Upon arrival, the president, First Lady Neo Masisi and daughter Atsile toured Florida State University (FSU), where he studied for his Master’s degree in Education 28 years ago.
In an interview, Botswana ambassador to the US Mr Andrew Newman said President Masisi was expected engage FSU leadership to find out if there were "any opportunities for Botswana since the institution is highly ranked in terms of research in education”.
Apart from FSU, the president would also visit children’s hospital at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas.
According to Ambassador Newman, the hospital was the largest in the world and leading in paedaetric medical treatment.
Baylor College of Medicine and Botswana relations date back to 2002 and did a wonderful job in treating children’s diseases but now focused on cancer.
Mr Newman disclosed that a foundation had been laid for the construction of a centre of excellence for pediatric oncology afor children in Botswana.
He said the centre of excellence would ensure Sub Saharan children with cancer survive. ENDS
