Township Rollers Sharps Shooting Stars meet
13 Sep 2018
The BTC Premiership action resumes tomorrow following FIFA international break.
In one of the encounters, Township Rollers host log leaders Sharps Shooting Stars at the National Stadium at 7pm.
The game is expected to produce fireworks since Sharps will be looking to continue with their winning streak after beating Gaborone United (3-1), Mochudi Centre Chiefs (3-0) and Orapa United (1-0) in their first three matches.
Sharps would look to the likes of Tshepo Malgas who has scored three goals from midfield, Letlhogonolo Chenjela, Khumoetsile Kufigwa and Onneile Sebapalo to trouble the Rollers defence.
However, they should be wary of the danger posed by the Rollers front two of Tumisang Orebonye and Joel Mogorosi.
The duo has already scored two goals apiece in two matches and would be hunting for more.
Rollers were held to a goalless draw by Jwaneng Galaxy in their last match, and will therefore be looking to return to winning ways.
The first round encounter between the two sides last year resulted in Rollers beating Sharps 2-0.
However, the match would also be remembered for the infamous remarks by Rollers coach Nikola Kavazovic in a post-match interview when he labeled Sharps “a small team which I don’t know its name”.
This was after the Serb was angered by what he perceived as rough challenges meted on his team by their Sharps counterparts, with one tackle in particular causing a bad injury to Joel Mogorosi.
In the second round encounter the two teams shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller, but a section of Rollers people were aggrieved by what they perceived as soft penalties awarded to their opponents.
In an afternoon encounter on Saturday, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Gaborone United clash in Molepolole at 3:30 pm.
The two teams are yet to register a win this season.
GU are languishing at the bottom of the log with minus two (-2) points while Chiefs are on position 11 with two points.
GU will be without midfielder Mandla Mgadla and defender Gaopatwe ‘Shoes’ Seosenyeng who are serving suspension due to red cards.
Other fixtures are as follows:
Saturday at 4 pm: Miscellaneous v Jwaneng Galaxy (Serowe Sports Complex), Prisons XI v Police XI (Otse Police Stadium), Extension Gunners v Orapa United (Lobatse Sports Complex), Sankoyo Bush Bucks v Security Systems (Maun Sports Complex)
Sunday: BDF XI v BR Highlanders (Lobatse Sports Complex) at 4 pm, Black Forest v Notwane (Molepolole Sports Complex) at 3:30 pm. ENDS
