Morupisi promotes healthy living

Permanent Secretary to the President Mr Carter Morupisi has encouraged Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) members to live a healthy lifestyle.
Speaking during a sponsored walk organised by the church on September 8 in Molepolole, Mr Morupisi further encouraged AFM members to use the day as a launch to new healthy resolutions towards choosing a healthy lifestyle. To further cultivate the habit he urged all to make the right decisions in order to fulfill their earthly mandate.
“As we reflect on our commitment to a healthy living, let us also be reminded that a healthy lifestyle goes hand in hand with having shelter over our heads,” he emphasised.
As one of the goals of organising the sponsored walk by the church was to raise funds for the new church building estimated to cost around P16 million, Mr Morupisi encouraged the church to be persistent in achieving the goal bearing in mind that nothing was impossible with God.
He urged the building committee to go to farmers, the business community and ordinary people in the street to help them build the new church building.
Mr Morupisi underscored the importance of the church in the community, citing the recent social ills bedeviling the country particularly the high incidents of murder cases and violent crime against women. He said with that in mind, the role of the church could not be overemphasised in building a moral and tolerant nation.
He further stressed that part of President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s road map was to see the church more active in nation building, especially in molding strong families as they were foundations of communities and societies.
Pastor Ephraim Semathane explained that the objective of the day was to raise funds for building a church. Although he indicated that building such a massive structure was a mammoth task, he said events such as the sponsored would assist. He said the other objective of the day was to recognise and appreciate that health and wellness were of paramount importance in achieving the church’s mandate hence they promoted healthy living among members.
At the ground breaking ceremony last year, the president of AFM Botswana Pastor Jobe Koosimile hinted that the new Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) Church was projected to be an architectural marvel that would be a landmark feature in Molepolole.
The new building, which is said to have a capacity of about 3 000 people, would not only serve AFM members but would also be made available to the community for certain events.
Meanwhile Pastor Koosimile said AFM started in Botswana in 1908 and that the Molepolole branch was one of the first as it started around 1937.
One of the reasons to build a new church was that there was crowding at the old building, and that it led to the church losing members because most of the time the congregants would attend church outside. He noted that even today they do not share the building with the Sunday school because of limited space.
The sponsored walk was held under the theme: My health and wellness matters: Key in building God’s kingdom. ENDS
