As part of giving back to the school and contributing to its 40th anniversary celebrations, Naledi Senior School Class of 1996 has refurbished the school’s assembly area to the value of P120 000.
The successful execution of the project was made possible through pledges and contributions from the Class of 1996 graduates, who coincidentally would also be turning 40 years.
Representing Class of 1996, Mr Seth Mongwaketse explained that they had approached the school to find out what needed to be developed in the school, and they received over 50 requests from which they chose to renovate the assembly area.
“We found the experience to be a magnificent challenge, especially since the school has grown immensely to enrol 1600 students compared to the 400 from 22 years ago,” he said.
Mr Mongwaketse however, said they welcomed the challenge as they were all determined to do something good for the school that had moulded them into people they were today.
He said upon completion of the assembly area, they visited the school’s special needs department where they found there was a malfunctioning refrigerator and they replaced it with a new one worth P2 500.
Ms Poppie Moriana, representing Class of 1991 said they also found it fitting to take part in giving back to the school.
She explained that they wanted to do something unique for Naledi Senior School’s 40th celebrations; hence they contributed towards the school’s entrance board.
The graduates further donated a television set with a decoder and a one-year subscription.
These were all valued at P33 500.
For his part, the school head, Mr Othusitse Othusitse, expressed gratitude towards the noble gestures by the school’s alumni.
He said the gestures were a great investment to the school and would serve as motivation to produce good results.
He added that the success of any school depended on contributions from all its stakeholders and partners.
Meanwhile, the Sunrise Badminton Club, a long-time stakeholder of Naledi Senior also erected a plaque pillar with three fountains at the school entrance.
The plaque, worth over P22 000 was also a 40th anniversary gift to the school. ENDS
