Nando’s Botswana is celebrating 25 years and the chicken connoisseurs have outclassed themselves.
Speaking in an interview during Nando’s media grillers challenge on Tuesday, Nando’s marketing manager, Ms Maipelo Moatshe revealed that Nando’s Botswana was a wholly citizen-owned company and that it has 17 restaurants nationwide with nine in Gaborone, two in Francistown and one each in Jwaneng, Maun, Mahalapye, Palapye, Kasane and Letlhakane.
The company, she said, has a staff complement of over 600 people with 45 based at the head office in Gaborone.
She also noted that the first restaurant was opened at the African Mall in Gaborone in 1993.
Ms Moatshe highlighted that customers had been enjoying all that peri-peri goodness since then, and that the Nando’s brand had grown from strength to strength.
With 25 years of doing business in Botswana, it may be their party, but Nando’s are the ones dishing out gifts with their 25th Birthday Promo Meal.
“The meal consists of a peri-peri flame-grilled half chicken and any two single sides of the customer’s choice with a P25 discount during the month of September.P1 off for every year Nando’s has been operating in Botswana,” commended Ms Moatshe.
In the spirit of Botho and generosity, Ms Moatshe said Nando’s was inviting all to celebrate with them.
“When thinking of how to show our gratitude to our loyal customers several factors were considered.
One, which Nando’s meal do Batswana most enjoy?
Secondly, how can we ensure that everyone gets a chance to celebrate with us?,” she said.
With regard to pricing, Ms Moatshe said Nando’s prided itself with serving delicious, fresh, natural and quality ingredients and locally supplied chicken that was worth every cent.
She said like every retail shop, Nando’s was also feeling the effects of food price inflation and trade restrictions, adding that they have however not changed their pricing strategy and continue to work hard to make sure they delivered quality experience and service at reasonable prices.
“We also want to run a business which is sustainable, which allows us to protect the jobs of those who work for us,” she said. ENDS
