Kgafela did not perform any dikgosi duties

Prior to the de-recognition of Kgosi Kgafela of Bakgatla by government, he did not perform any official functions of dikgosi as prescribed by Section 17 of the Bogosi Act of 2008 when he was recognised as kgosi in September 2008, Parliament has been told.
Answering a question, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Peter Siele highlighted that mothusa kgosi continued to provide the requisite service until he was suspended in July 2011 adding that to ensure continuity of service, a chief representative was at the kgotla.
Member of Parliament for Kgatleng West, Mr Gilbert Mangole had asked the minister the measures he had put in place to ensure continuity in service delivery by the office of kgosikgolo since the de- recognition of Kgosi Kgafela by government. ENDS
