No pending cases left by Kgafela
31 Jul 2013
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Peter Siele has told Parliament that Bakgatla kgosikgolo, Kgafela II has never presided over cases as prescribed by Section 17 (e) of the Bogosi Act of 2008 and as such he did not leave any pending cases as a result of his de-recognition.
Answering a question, Mr Siele said there were 73 civil cases and one criminal case that were pending as the result of the suspension of mothusa kgosi in July 2011.
He highlighted that his ministry was in the process of finding modalities and practical solutions of disposing off pending cases.
Member of Parliament for Kgatleng West, Mr Gilbert Mangole had asked the minister to state by category the number of cases which were to be dealt with by the office of kgosikgolo but were left pending as a result of the de-recognition of the kgosikgolo and how the minister intended to dispose of such cases.
