Teachers explore ways to better results

28 Aug 2018

Educators continue to explore ways and means to better school results across regions and the country at large.

It is for this reason that the department of English at Tsabong Unified School held an English Literature symposium to help students improve in the subject.

The school’s English Literature teacher, Mr Boitshoko Nshayi said most students were not interested in literature hence the reason to hold a symposium to get  students to develop interest in the subject and to boost their confidence.

He said the aim was to expose the subject to students and the community.

Mr Nshayi said students often complained that literature required a lot of reading and was not an easy subject.

Inviting the community to take part he said was to demonstrate to students that Literature was a subject like any other.

He said he had 15 Form Four students studying the subject and there were no Form Fives this year because the previous year they failed and the school decided not to enroll students in the subject this year hence the initiative to get more students to join literature and improve Literature results.

During the symposium, the students and community members discussed poems and short stories.

After the symposium, Mr Nshayi said the objective was met adding that he hoped to hold another next year.

In an interview, some of the students said they felt the symposium was helpful because it opened their minds and gave them confidence. ENDS
