As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Kitso International College recently celebrated a successful graduation of six less privileged students after their successful completion of a one-year programme.
The College had sponsored a total of 31 students who are categorised by the government as Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) to a sum of P1.3 million from various districts across the country to undergo different certificate courses.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, founder and director of Kitso International College, Mr Webster Musaemura, encouraged the graduates to continue with their academic and research achievements to complement their knowledge with the practical skills needed to succeed in their work field.
“Earning a certificate is an accomplishment to anyone and you should be proud of the hard work and dedication that you displayed in the pursuit of your dreams and career. The fields of engineering and corporate are demanding ones, and they require a great deal of foresight, innovation and creativity and all our graduates demonstrated all of these traits and abilities,” he said.
He commended the graduates for having shown determination and persistence towards achieving their goals by facing challenges and emerging victorious in the end.
He said this was demonstrated through their diligent work as they prepared themselves for greater roles in the automotive engineering, corporate and security arena.
“To complete your courses, most of you had to move far away from home and to a new city. You left behind positions of great importance to your nation and immersed yourselves in a challenging, multi-lingual, academic environment that refined your perception of the world within which we live,” he added.
Mr Musaemura further explained that the school travelled across the country with the help of different Councils the school identified students from Mabutsane and Good Hope who were then sponsored with tuition fees and accommodation. He thus thanked Mabutsane Council for taking care of the welfare of students.
For her part, Mabutsane District Council representative, Ms Phatsimo Taolo, expressed gratitude to Kitso International College for having partnered with them to give children from her district an opportunity to acquire skills which she said would create employment opportunities for the graduates.
She said Mabutsane District was hard-hit by high numbers of unemployment, which have pushed the youth in that area to engage in criminal activities, alcohol and drug abuse as well unplanned pregnancies.
She said to address these challenges, more partnerships with educational providers such as Kitso International College were imminent as they would equip learners with skills and expertise to make them employable and marketable in future.
During the handover ceremony, Ms Connie Motswakwa was awarded Director’s Award for becoming the most excelling student. She was the only student who graduated with two certificates; Automotive Engineering and Automotive Collision Estimation.
