Mobile business way to go

22 Aug 2018

If one is ready to start a business but hate the idea of being tied to the same location, the mobile business might just be their natural choice.

A mobile business is a commercial entity that allows an entrepreneur to trade anywhere, where there are potential customers.

This type of business gives entrepreneurs the convenience of work places wherever there are customers.

Starting such kind of a business is generally cheap, as there is no rent or utilities to worry about thus providing a quicker path to profitability.

One vibrant entrepreneur who has jumped into the mobile business bandwagon is 32-year-old Agnes Serurubele of Old Naledi location in Gaborone.

In an interview with BOPA, Ms Serurubele said the mobile business comes with a unique set of possibilities as it allows entrepreneurs to take their services to the people and try different locations on different dates as well as knowing and reaching out to special events and ceremonies where they could find hordes of possible clients.

Ms Serurubele is of the view that roaming freely gives them an advantage to reach customers that they would otherwise not if they were stationed in one location.

The business also offers an opportunity for the entrepreneur to sample the market before actually engaging in mass-production in a particular line of product.

“In some instances I find that certain products sell at particular locations and events, therefore I make sure that I cater for those times and places,” she said.

Her counterpart, Ms Agnes Kgotlaetsile aged 34 of Thamaga village, who owns a mobile kitchen and operates her business mostly in Moshupa shared the sentiments with Serurubele.

Ms Kgotlaetsile said kick-starting a mobile business is cheaper than other forms of businesses as it does not have additional costs such as rentals. ENDS
