Shortage of health care personnel still a challenge

Francistown is made up of seven clusters that have a total number of 10 doctors instead of the required 29, Assistant Minister of Health has said.

Answering a question in Parliament, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri said shortage of health care personnel including doctors was a challenge to the ministry. Mr Matlhabaphiri however noted that various initiatives such as introduction of clusters, partnerships to provide specialist service were ongoing to address these challenges.

Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state the total number of doctors required in Francistown clinics and the actual number available to date in the said clinics. ENDS
