Constituency team changes life of standard three pupil

19 Aug 2018

Crime Fighters football team playing in the constituency tournament has impacted positively in the life of a standard three pupil at Sowa Primary School who has a disability.

Explaining the initiative at the handing over of the wheel chair worth P3 900, the team committee chairperson, Catherine Mpolokang said their constituency team was formed back in 2012 by security guards based in Sowa Town.

She said following their decision to assist one of the community members last year, they organised tournaments, and a beauty pageant to raise funds.

Mpolokang noted that the gate takings from all their events were channeled towards the purchasing of the wheelchair for the pupil while the team committee also made personal contributions as well as seeking contributions from the general public.

Appreciating the gesture on behalf of the parents of the child, Sowa court president Bond Mabalane said Batswana had always been known to be compassionate.

He said the gesture by the team had shown the child that not only his parents cared about him but the community too.

He implored the young boy not to look down upon himself but to consider himself as an individual capable of achieving what any other person could.

For her part, deputy town clerk for Sowa Kefentse Ngwamotsoko commended the team for being part of the community and understanding the role they have to play in the socio economic development of their community.

She thus urged them to continue with the good work noting that the leadership would also support and encourage them. ENDS
