Jwaneng Galaxy started the BTC Premiership on a high note, thrashing the newly promoted Prisons XI 5-0 in a game played at Botswana Police College on August 18.

During the entire 90 minutes, it was evident that Prisons XI still had a lot of preparation to do if they were to survive in the elite league.

Jwaneng Galaxy scored five goals all due to defensive errors and the two goals were scored before break through Thero Setsile and Patrick Kaunda.

After the break, Prisons continued with their defensive errors and they were punished by three goals courtesy of Lebogang Ditsile, Kagiso Molapi and Gilbert Baruti.

Prisons XI coach, Phillimon Makhwengwe was equally shocked as he watched his team humiliated in their first game.

He said in an interview that he was equally disappointed by the score margin.

“It is not a good result. We are learning the hard way. To be honest our reaction was very poor. Galaxy played very well and we could not respond well. Their movement on the day confused my players,” he said.

According to Makhwengwe it was their first time playing against Galaxy, adding that they now knew what to expect in the elite league.

Furthermore, he said they would go back to the drawing board, adding that it was evident that they lost the game in the midfield and right flank.

He said Jwaneng Galaxy was too quick on the left flank and his players failed to mark them, adding he would rectify this through his Ugandan players who were yet to be cleared.

“Once they are cleared, then we will be back in shape. I also missed Percy More in my team, the role he plays will solve my problem,” he said.

Jwaneng Galaxy coach Matshediso Moseki, said they started their pre-season in July, through a six weeks programme in preparation for the league.

“We played many games including a tournament and that alone helped us to open the season on a high note,” he said.

Further, he said his players were better in terms of fitness, technique and awareness. ENDS
