Sua Flamingoes win replay fixture

29 Jul 2013

Sua Flamingoes humiliated Great North Tigers (GNT) 5-1 in the 2012/13 First Division North first round replay fixture played at Leopards grounds in Francistown on July 27.

The replay came about after the Disciplinary Committee (DC) recommended re-schedule of the encounter, saying at the time the match was called off due to kits clash, Sua was not given a fair chance to defend their action before awarding soft points to GNT.

The win, however, did not make any difference for Sua who were seated at the bottom of the log with 20 points and relegated to the second division in the new season. However, GNT with 21 points would also be seating on the edge of their seats eyeing the outcome of another replay between Tonota FC and Kazunguala FC of Kasane which were also scheduled for the same day of the GNT/Sua replay.

There were reports that Tonota FC had not honoured the replay fixture and in an interview with a first division north committee member, who was also the match commissioner of the replay, Rapula Gaothobogwe said this was going to affect their schedule to wrap up the league.

And with the league delayed, they would not be able to hold their annual general meeting set for August 3 in which they were going to select their representative for the General Assembly slated for the 10th of the same month. He nonetheless said they would wait for the referees report on the replay and from there they would take necessary steps. ENDS
